The 2016 OLSL Games; a two-week national tournament taking place on the 24th December 2016 until 8th of January 2017.
We have deliberately chosen these days because historically the abuse of alcohol and drugs increases during this season, resulting in an increase in cases of rape, murder, and culpable homicide of car fatal accidents. Another objective of the tournament is to develop and implement community based crime prevention by encouraging the youth to participate in crime prevention activities during this period. Through this tournament, they will have something that will keep them highly engaged and safe whilst they recognise their potential and capacity to drive and bring about positive change in their lives and communities.
The OLSL 2016 Games will have activities for every age and every taste, and enough going on for a whole 14 days’ outing. We will watch the community compete in 53 games which include popular games (that can be traced back to the Neolithic period) : 1.Xigubu; 2.Xibelani; 3.Ku tlhokovetsela; 4.Ncuva; 5.Mitsheketo; 6.Magava; 7.Manjanji; 8.Xincayincayi; 9.Miravarava;10.Mtshayito; 11.Xikhaba; 12.Ntsherentshere; 13.Khazi; 14.Tshatshabula; 15.
